Meditation has been considered a very powerful way to let your mind achieve some really impossible things on your behalf. It has been proved that mind power can help us in a huge number of ways, starting from getting rid of our daily mental problems to even many physical disorders.

The right meditation technique can instill that level of mind power in you which can let you accomplish objectives like quitting smoking, losing weight, fighting depression, doing well on an examination, and a host of other things. And not only this, meditation has helped patients fight a number of diseases as well and there is adequate proof to support such incidents.

There are a number of ways in which you can meditate. Here is one of the simplest methods that can eventually show you the best results if you are planning to try meditation. There is only one thing to understand – you won’t get there the very first day. It might take you a couple of weeks (or even a month), before you can fully grasp the procedure and start getting the best results out of it.

Here are the steps to follow.

Choose a calm and quiet place – like your bedroom – where there will be no disturbance during this 20 minute session. You can try this out on the terrace or in your garden as well – as long as you are completely relaxed and without any distractions. Avoid bright lights completely.

Lie down on your back, and relax all your muscles, limbs and your mind.

Close your eyes and focus them towards the center of your forehead.

Start counting down from 100 to 0, with around 2 seconds gap between two consecutive numbers.

While you are counting, try to picture something that makes you feel good. It can be your favorite tourist spot, a movie you watched recently, or something that is enriching for your mind.

The idea is to be calm all through and concentrate on your thoughts rather than on the surroundings and the physical sensation.

Once you reach the number zero, you should feel completely calm and relaxed. And if you have done the things right, you will not feel your hands, limbs or other body parts at all. You may feel that you are floating in mid-air!

Make sure you have your eyes closed all the time.

Now is the time to tell yourself (you don’t have to speak out loud) what you want to achieve. it can be something like “I want to quit smoking” or “I will get better from my migraine”, etc.

10. Continue with this for the next 15 minutes or so – without getting too tensed or stressed about the time period.

11. Next, once you feel satisfied enough, start counting from 0 to 100 again, with 2 second gap between two consecutive numbers.

12. Once you reach 100, slowly open your eyes, and lie down in a relaxed state for another 5 minutes for the best results.

This constitutes the whole meditation session and can prove to be very effective for you if you are doing the things right. You may not feel that you are quite there the very first day or week, but slowly and slowly your body and mind will get tuned to it, and you can achieve some really fascinating results out of it.

If you can make your mind believe that it can help you with getting rid of the problems you face in life, you will see how easy it becomes for you to tackle stress. Meditation helps your mind to develop a good level of confidence, get rid of negative feelings, and lets your mind be in perfect sync with your body. The result is always a happier and healthier life.

Colon cancer, also commonly referred to as colorectal cancer, can include cancerous growths in the areas of the colon, appendix, or rectum. Each year more than 650,000 people die from this disease, making it the fifth most common type of cancer to affect citizens residing in the United States. Colon cancer develops from polyps on the colon, which are usually found during a routine colonoscopy. Depending on the stage the cancer is in when discovered, many patients suffering from colon cancer can be cured. However, if the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, or metastasized, it is not likely that the patient will be able to be completely cured of the disease.

There are many different steps that one can take in order to attempt to prevent the development of colon cancer. One of these is the process of colon cleansing. The purpose of colon cleansing is to remove feces and harmful toxins from both the colon and the intestinal tract of a person. By removing these waste products, the colon can function at full capacity, and the person’s digestive system will be as efficient as possible. There are all-natural supplements that are safer, less invasive, and less harmful to the body than other methods of cleansing the colon. These supplements work with your body to eliminate harmful toxins.

There have been many studies that show that regular colon cleansing can work to prevent an at-risk person from developing colon cancer. Many of the harmful waste products that are removed during the process of colon cleansing are the direct result of a poor diet. Specifically, they are the result of a diet low in fiber and high in fat. It has been shown that people who eat this type of diet for most of their lives are at an increased risk for developing colon cancer because of the distress these types of food exert on the colon and digestive system. Extra distress and irritation can lead to colon cancer.

By undergoing the process of colon cleansing, a person is removing harmful toxins and waste products from both the lining of the colon and the intestinal tract, enabling the digestive system to function at its best. By removing these products from the body, a person is also decreasing the chances that he or she will develop colon cancer later in life. However, one should be careful not to undergo the process of colon cleansing too often, as this could irritate the colon and cause the person to lose important nutrients necessary for proper body function.

These are an extremely beneficial source of fatty acids. The benefits have been known for many years, since the 1930s. They have been known to be essential for normal growth and health, but the notice of their health benefits have been more focused on in the past few years.

Supplements are actually a purer and more effective version of Omega-3s than traditional forms. The FDA approved Omega-3s as a cardiovascular health improver. They are also helpful in improving depression, anxiety, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer prevention. Supplements can also help reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol.

The natural sources of Omega-3s are fish, krill, mussels, flax, eggs, grass fed beef, and algae. Cold water fish like salmon and mackerel are great sources for Omega-3s. However, most people do not get enough of these essential fatty acids in their daily normal diet. There are fortified food products that include Omega-3s, but there are also fabulous natural supplements that make getting a necessary daily amount simple and easy.

The cardiovascular benefits of Omega-3 were initially discovered in an Inuit tribe in Greenland. This tribe ate a lot of fat, but most of it was from a seafood based diet. Even though there was a significant amount of fat, there was virtually no trace of cardiovascular disease in these people. The high amount of fatty acids reduced their blood pressure, heart rate, triglycerides, and atherosclerosis. Further studies have shown reduced arterial thickness as well as lower cholesterol. Fatty acids combined with statin drugs give even greater benefits.

Omega-3s have also been shown to reduce cancer risk. In prostate cancer patients slowed tumor growth and increased survival has been shown in men taking supplements. For women with breast cancer, supplements have been shown to improve weight and appetite as well as increase quality of life.

As with any supplement or medicinal product, there are some risks associated. Increased bleeding and risk of stroke can occur when very large doses are taken. If you stay within the recommended daily allowance, this should not be a problem. Omega-3s can also reduce blood sugar level control in patients with diabetes. Before taking any supplement it is important to check with a physician before starting any new regimen.

There are many high quality supplements on the market. Fish oil is the most commonly available form of supplement. Other sources are flaxseed oil capsules. If you choose fish oil supplements, be sure to choose from a reputable company that has supplements free of mercury, cadmium and lead. For an adult 3 grams a day is enough to reap all the great health benefits.

Cholesterol Side Effects

Any prescription medication usually has side effects. Most of these side effects are unpleasant. The reason most people deal with side prescription effects is because they would rather put up with them than the condition the medication is supposed to treat. What arises from this is a need to have new medications prescribed to deal with the side effects and so begins the vicious cycle of drug use. This is why natural supplements for the management of cholesterol levels are always recommended since they contain zero to no side effects.

Many of the well-known drugs used to treat high cholesterol fall under the drug category known as statins. These include popular brands such as Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor, and Pravachol. Common side effects are nausea or muscle soreness due to kidney malfunction. It is important to know and understand the risks of taking prescription medication sand how they interact with other drugs.

There is a condition known as Rhabdomyolysis where muscle protein and myoglobin are released into the blood stream. The break down of proteins and other materials create toxins that enter the kidneys. This is dangerous because it can completely shut down the kidneys in the extreme cases. Not all patients diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis experience muscle pain and weakness but it is a common symptom along with nausea and vomiting, fever, dark urine and abnormal fatigue.

In some of the worse cases prescription drugs for cholesterol can cause myopathy, which is an acquired muscle disease where the patient suffers from muscle pain, tenderness or muscle weakness. In this condition, there is a breakdown of the muscles, which releases muscle protein into the blood. As the kidneys process those muscle proteins, they begin to breakdown as well. That condition is known as renal failure which is a high price to pay for treating high cholesterol.

There are a number of natural alternatives that have been very successful in the treatment of high cholesterol. Natural supplements along with a balanced diet and exercise create a powerful combination for overall health.

Most of us, who brush our teeth regularly, may never really stop to think about it. If it safe enough to go in my mouth everyday how can it pose a danger? Well, consider this.

Fluoride has demonstrated its effectiveness on the prevention of cavities and overall oral hygiene. This we know. But research has shown that, for children, a “pea-size” amount of toothpaste is enough to brush with. Exceeding this amount on a regular basis can lead to cases of fluorosis in young children. Fluorosis is a condition which may cause white streaks on teeth as well as stains, cracking and pitting of the teeth in severe cases. Also some children tend to swallow the toothpaste while brushing which further increases the risk no matter how small the amount.

There have been some toothpaste manufacturers that have created an all-natural toothpaste for children (which wouldn’t hurt adults to use either). It contained no artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors. Some of theses are classified as non-fluoride herbal toothpaste. Of course, they may not be as attractive to children’s taste buds but then that’s the trade-off. This is a trade-off that may cause children to not brush longer.

One important key is to for parents to educate their children on how to brush and not swallow toothpaste. This way kids can have the better tasting fluoride toothpaste brands with out being at risk of developing flourosis.

On the other hand all-natural products are always safer because there are no significant risks. There’s reason why the ADA has a general “warning” along with the FDA statement stating to “Keep (toothpaste) out of the reach of children under 6 years of age.” It’s to prevent any chance of poisoning.

One last thought: Fluoride can cause a thyroid to become more underactive. This is called hypothyroidism. Your thyroid is responsible for making hormones that help the body make energy. It also keeps your body temperature and metabolism regulated as well as assisting other organs to function properly.

There are other elements we come in contact with throughout our daily lives besides toothpaste such as water or even dental rinses that contain fluoride. Fluoride has even been linked to gum damage. We should be cautious of the amount of fluoride we take into our system.
