Hemorrhoids Treatment

Hemorrhoids are swollen tissues or varicose veins and are very common among men and women. Internal hemorrhoids are inside the rectum and may not cause as much pain but they often bleed a lot. External hemorrhoids are close to the anus or at the lower end of the anal canal and may feel like bulges. They differ in size and you can have one or more. They may itch, burn and become inflamed. Things that could cause hemorrhoid problems are pregnancy, aging, overweight, heavy lifting, diarrhea and constipation. Genetic weakness could be another cause of hemorrhoids.

There are different treatments that help relieve hemorrhoid problems. Eat a diet with high fiber foods such as cereals, cabbage, carrots, asparagus and prunes. Drink a lot of water along with high fiber foods. It’s best not to eat foods that lack fiber and contain sugar, fat and oil. Processed foods should also be avoided. Stay away from alcohol and spicy foods.

Natural Herb

Soaking in a hot bath or sitz bath may relieve some of the symptoms. A sitz bath should be warm with only your pelvic region immersed. Straining can cause or agitate hemorrhoid problems. Natural bulking agents such as Psyllium seed can help prevent or reduce symptoms. Topical hemorrhoid creams and suppositories are lubricants that can be applied to the area but they only provide temporary relief. Some of the ingredients in these types of products are cocoa butter, lanolin and vegetable oil. There are topical creams with chemicals so be careful if you prefer something natural.

One reason natural health supplements are better than a prescription drug for treating hemorrhoid problems is they don’t have any chemicals. Medication often relieves hemorrhoid symptoms very fast but you may experience unpleasant side effects. Some natural treatments will completely eliminate symptoms and cure your hemorrhoids. A couple herbs you can use are horse chestnut and hazel. Horse chestnut can be used as an astringent and anti-inflammatory so swelling from hemorrhoids can decrease. Hazel helps to stop bleeding and reduces inflammation. So when choosing a hemorrhoid remedy, make sure it’s all natural if you don’t want any harsh side effects.
