Causes Of Bladder Problems

One category of incontinence is urinary incontinence. This is defined as the involuntary leakage of urine. The problem is quite common and for many, it has a profound impact on one’s quality of life. This form of incontinence is usually derived from an underlying medical condition that is generally treatable. There are many symptoms to incontinence. The most common ones include:

• Bladder irritation
• Overactive bladder condition
• Blockage in the urethra. For men, this can happen due to enlarged prostate.
• Urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs have an increased risk of appearance in women who are sexually active or persons who suffer from diabetes or sickle cell disease. If there are any abnormalities in the urinary tract such as a malformation, this can also increase the risk of a UTI.

It is possible for bacteria to enter through the urinary tract through the urethra. Such can happen with poor toilet habits and bad hygiene. Pregnancy in woman can increase risks as well as prostrate enlargement in men. There is now definite way to know what event causes a UTI.

• Side effects from medication. The medications referred to here would include sedatives, sleeping pills, antidepressants, narcotics, preparations containing caffeine or diuretics.
• Impacted bowels : When waste becomes too tightly packed in the lower intestine and rectum causing bowel movement to be difficult or even impossible.
• Weak bladder muscles

Generally, the causes of bladder incontinence are temporary. Once the underlying cause is treated, then the problem disappears immediately. Others causes may take longer to treat, such as in the case of a weak bladder.
